What is DTF Printing?
DTF (Direct to Film) printing is a transfer method where your design is printed onto a special film, coated with adhesive powder, and then heat-pressed onto fabric. It works on cotton, polyester, blends, and more — no weeding required.
File Format
For the best results, upload your design as a PNG file with a transparent background. We also accept TIF, PDF, and PSD files. Avoid JPG — it doesn’t support transparency and will print with a white box around your design.
Resolution (DPI)
Your file should be at least 150 DPI, but we recommend 300 DPI for the sharpest results. Lower DPI files will still print, but fine details and small text may appear blurry.
Not sure what DPI your file is? Don’t worry — our uploader automatically detects it and shows you the print dimensions before you order.
Color Mode
Use RGB color mode, not CMYK. DTF printers use RGB, and converting from CMYK can shift your colors. What you see on screen is very close to what you’ll get on the transfer.
Size Your Design
Design your file at the exact size you want it printed. If you want a 10-inch wide chest print, make your file 10 inches wide at 300 DPI (that’s 3000 pixels wide).
Our uploader calculates the print size from your file’s dimensions and DPI automatically — you’ll see the exact inches and price before adding to cart.
Transparent Background
This is the most important step. Your design must have a transparent background (not white). A white background will print as a white box on the garment.
In Photoshop: delete the background layer. In Canva: use “Transparent background” (Pro feature). In Illustrator: just don’t add a background.
